Chris and I met on the job at Costco Wholesale in Foster City in 1996. I was working in the food court, and Chris was a manager. We both worked in different departments, and didn't have an actual conversation until around 1999. I had a major crush on Chris, and when we finally did have occasion to have a conversation, I was too shy to say anything! Chris thought I didn't like him! We bonded over our mutual love of movies, found out we had similar taste in books and music, and started dating in 2001. We moved in together in 2003, and have been together ever since! We currently live in Sunnyvale, CA with one roommate, five cats, and eight goldfish!
How we got engaged on 1/13/2009: We started our 8th anniversary of our first date like any other day. We did chores, even did some grocery shopping at Costco. Our plans were to go out to dinner alone at the Olive Garden at 5, and spend the evening at home watching movies. Chris asked me in the late afternoon if it was time to exchange gifts, and I said sure! We sat down on the living room sofa, and I gave him my small gift. Then, it was my turn for my present. He had me sit on the couch with my back facing the kitchen. He make a lot of rustling noises with boxes and such, and so I thought he had hidden roses or something in there. He had me read the card he had given me which said, "The adventure continues...Happy Anniversary". He added this message: "Actually, I believe it's just beginning. Turn around. Love, Chris". I turned around and he was kneeling behind me, holding out a ring in it's box and proposed! I was completely surprised, and said 'yes' almost before he finished asking me! The happiest moment of my life! We then drove to the Olive Garden, and my parents, Chris' sister and grandmother were there waiting to celebrate with us! It was an unforgettable day.
About Lisa: I graduated from San Francisco State in 2001 with a BA in Cinema/Hand-drawn Animation. I have never worked in the arts field, but am addicted to caffeine! My past jobs have included working at Costco for 7 years, being a shift supervisor for Starbucks Coffee for 3 years, and working the past 4 years for Peet's Coffee & Tea. I am currently a store manager for Peet's in Saratoga, CA.
I was born and raised in Foster City, CA. I was an only child but had many small pets. My favorite film of all time is 'Braveheart'.
About Chris: I graduated from San Jose State in 2006 with a BA in Communication and minored in Radio/TV/Film. I have worked off and on for Costco Wholesale for the past 15 years or so, but took a 6-year break to go back to school, earn my degree, and work for Peet's Coffee & Tea. I worked for Peet's at the same time Lisa worked for Starbucks, and we had many spirited arguments over who had the better coffee! I won, and converted Lisa into a Peet's lover. She refuses to drink Starbucks anymore!
I spent most of my life in CA, but lived part of my childhood in Minnesota, and consider myself from Minnesota. I am a do-or-die Vikings fan! I am a film lover and discerning movie critic. My favorite film of all time is 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'.
