We will have two weddings to celebrate both of our cultural and religious backgrounds.
Hindu Ceremony May 17, 2014, Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel
The traditional Hindu wedding is a deeply meaningful and symbolic combination of rituals and traditions. It is a ceremony that is about 4000 years old and is traditionally performed in Sanskrit, which is the language of ancient Hinduism. Our ceremony will be performed in both Sanskrit and English. The highlight of the Hindu wedding is the "Saptapadi", also called the seven steps. There are no vows in the Western sense, but the seven steps around a fire (honoring the fire god Agni) spell out the promises we make to each other. We will provide programs so that you understand each ritual as the wedding is performed. Stay tuned, we will post the program and further explanation of the Hindu wedding on this site soon!
Christian Ceremony May 18th, 2014, The Rosewood Hotel Georgia
This wedding is the traditional Christian wedding except it is not happening in a church! We have a Finnish pastor from the Finnish Lutheran chruch performing the ceremony which will be in English. After this ceremony there will be a reception with dinner, drinks and dancing!
